My birth did not go at all as planned.
My little man was born on a Halloween. I was admitted October 30th to be induced. I started having contractions around 9:30PM l, my water broke on its own at 2:32 AM and the foley balloon fell out at 3:00 AM. They started pitocin at 6:30 AM. I started having stronger and more frequent contractions but then my baby boys heart started dropping to 90 and sometimes the high 80's. So they decided to stop the pitocin for a bit. I kept having contractions but they got further apart. Eventually they restarted the pitocin and at this point I was 7 CM and 75% thinned out. I had yet to get the epidural because I was determined to do it all natural. My doctor came back and said his heart rate is still dropping so they lowered the pitocin and checked me. I was at 8 and 75%. His heart rate kept dropping so they turned the pitocin off again. I stayed at 8 centimeters and 75% for 5 hours. My doctor came in and said his heart rate was dropping more. She said I think you should get the epidural because if in the next 2 hours you don't change any I'm gonna have to do a c section and I don't want to put you under. I was devastated because I wanted so bad to do it all natural and push him out. Also I had been in labor for 19 hours with no epidural but my babies health was at risk so I got the epidural at 630 PM. My doctor came in at 7:20 PM and I hadn't changed and his heart rate was still dropping. She took me back to do the c section and he had the cord wrapped around his neck. My baby boy was born crying and healthy. Grayson David Alford. 6 pounds 10 ounces 20 and 1/4 inches. His mommies whole world.
