Diaper Advice

I want to star buying diapers, but I'm not sure what brand? I'm not a FTM but my son is 11 years old, so it's been a while, but I do remember that some diapers gave him a rash or they just were uncomfortable... any tips on what kind to buy? Have any of you started buying diapers yet?
