"no one wears condoms in Florida!" WTF?

So my fiancé and I are in a long distance relationship. He was my first, he's had a lot more experience than me. He's from Florida. I like using condoms because he hasn't been tested yet and my body isn't ready to be on the pill yet and I don't trust the pull out. But he always tries to get me to let him just pull out and not use condoms. He constantly pushes me to do this and I don't feel comfortable with it. Then one day he just says "I know you would not understand I don't blame you, it's just because I'm a Florida dude and we don't wear condoms very much." Ummm WHAT? Can anyone confirm this who is from Florida or is he bullshitting me lol? It makes me self conscious because he was my first and he's had all these girls who didn't want to use condoms and now he's with me and I want to be safe and all I can think about is all the girls he's enjoyed more than me because he hates condoms. I know I shouldn't be jealous and he's with me but am I wrong? Is this even a thing lol?
