cycle day 56!

So I'm on cycle day 56 dr said I'm not pregnant my body just didn't produce an egg last month therefore no period. He put me on a 5 day pill to jump start my period and told me I should start a couple days later unless I got pregnant right before taking it or during it. This is day 2 after finishing the pill and still no period! Has anyone else ever had this happen?
