first appointment

Okay so I had my first appointment to be referred to the obgyn department. My first appointment with the midwife is dec 12 when I'm 10weeks along. They told me today that they will not do an ultrasound until 20 weeks. Is that normal?!?  I had a ultrasound with my first at 10 weeks to make sure everything is good and no multiples etc. anyone else have the same prenatal care
