how long was your baby in NICU?

I'm only 22 weeks. My doctor said I'm a high risk for delivering before 30 weeks, if not, before 35 weeks. Hopefully that doesn't happen. But im just wondering how long your babies were in the NICU before they came home? I know every baby is different and it depends on their weight, medical conditions and all that. Would anyone like to share their stories? Any tips to prepare myself? How long were you in the hospital? Could you hold your baby? Do we bring diapers, clothes, and baby items? Sorry for all the questions. I want to be as prepared as possible

My baby was born at 35 weeks, we had a 2 week NICU stay. She wasn't strong enough to eat on her own. I didn't hold her for 14 hrs as she had a cpap machine on & a central line.

My cousin was born at 24 weeks- they had a 4 month NICU stay with 2 open heart surgeries. They weren't able to hold her for about a month.

My cousin had a baby at 32 weeks & had a 6 week NICU stay.

While in the hospital they usually provide everything for baby, if you have a NICU stay. Most babies in NICU can't wear clothes because they typically are hooked up to machines. I would go on a hospital tour & ask what your hospital provides as everyone is different.

Also when baby can wear clothes, some hospitals have some for them to use while they are there & if you bring your own they tend to disappear. As NICU nurses may change them while you aren't their & not know they are your personal clothes.

My twin siblings stayed a total of 80 some days. Their due date was April and they arrived in January. My bother came home before my sister, she got a respiratory infection and was too short for her car seat so she stayed longer. They are now almost 11 years old 😭

I'm high risk for pre term labor as well. My oldest was born at 34 weeks 5lbs13oz 19in and he was perfectly healthy didn't need any help of anything breathing. He didn't cry like any other newborn he squeaked.. He will be 6 years old on Nov 20. And healthy as could be. my youngest was born at 37 weeks after being on best rest and had to take four pills a day to keep the contractions away.   My youngest was 7 lbs 4 oz 21 in. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with baby boy number 3. I have to get a shot once a week to help prevent me from going into preterm labor. So far with both my other boys I was in and out of the hospital at 22 weeks. With this one I've only been in the hospital 3 times one nothing to do with the pregnancy. I had my baby girl at 34 weeks she was completely healthy she just had to get the sucking down, get off oxygen, fluids, gain weight and pass the car seat test. She was in there for 2 1/2 weeks. I didn't get to hold her for 24 hours bc of me having a catheter and being on blood pressure medicine. We brought her clothes and my daughter colored pictures and she got to decorate her NICU area. But they had the diapers and wipes and all. So I didn't bring any. I only stayed in the hospital 5 days. And since we lived 35 miles from the hospital we drove up there everyday for the evening feeding and I got to hold her for a few hours. I could have held her more but the nurses and NICU doctors say the more there in the bed the faster they can get home so I just went 1 time a day. It was difficult but she's now 5 months old and only 11 lbs lol she's still a tiny girl.

I had my daughter at 39w2d and she still spent 2 months in the nicu. Only items we brought were blankets, the hospital supplied the rest. She actually couldn't wear clothes for the time she was there because they just got in the way.

I delivered triplets at 25 weeks. The youngest of my 3 passed away after 2 weeks.  The other two came home 10 weeks after I delivered them with no oxygen or monitors or anything. They were perfectly healthy. They weighed under 4 lbs when they came home.
