Baby may have abnormality...:(

I went in for my 12 wk ultrasound yesterday and got the disheartening news that baby might have either omphalocele or gastroschisis, which basically means that part of the intestines are  outside of the abdomen... I've never even heard of this but supposedly it's one of the more common abnormalities and it is unknown what causes it. Has anyone gone through this or know anyone that has that can give me some advice and reassurance?
