How much did you pay for your Mirena IUD?

All of a sudden my period has gotten awful. I'm not on the pill and it's to the point where I'm on 800 mgs of ibuprofen to take the edge off the pain but I can still feel the cramping. I'm not a fan of oral contraceptives but I have heard the Mirena helps with your period. If you have one, how much did it cost? I can't deal with this kind of pain anymore. I got about three hours of sleep before the cramps started. It's always been bad, but lately it has been horrible.

I'm in the UK so obviously it'll be a little different, but when I made inquiries about getting it done privately because I couldn't find an NHS clinic to do it, I was quoted £5-600 for the initial consultation followed by the insertion.

It depends on your insurance. Some will cover it %100. Some won't cover it at all and some may only cover a portion of it. I had the Paragard IUD. I think it would've been about $800 for it. My insurance that I had at the time normally wouldn't have covered it because I could've gotten say the pill or something. But I've got Factor v Leiden which is a blood clotting disorder and I was told that I couldn't take any birth control that had hormones in it. So, fought with my insurance company to pay for it.

You should be able to call up your insurance company and ask them how much it would be and then should be able to tell you.

My insurance paid for it all but I had a 25$ copay. They can cost anywhere between 80-1000$ just depending on insurance. I'm sure without insurance you can get on a payment plan if need be

It depends on your insurance, mine was going to be paid for by my insurance but I couldn't get it because my cervix is too small and my doctor couldn't get it in without risking tearing my uterine lining. Check with your doc, they should be able to let you know the cost before hand!
