Im asking due to a post I've seen on baby center ? Anyone && I'm not trying to offend anyone or anything like that ? Just more or less out of curiosity my baby at 17 weeks

Yes. It's one of the things they check for at the 20 week anatomy scan. I believe they can usually tell by the structure of the nasal bones.

I'd say no while there are blood test, and ultrasound usually identifies soft markers there is no absolute guarantee, if it is a question they will sometimes do an amnio as a last resort.

There are a few soft markers that we see on US that suggest Downs and other trisomies. If these soft markers are seen they do additional testing. Only 💯 way to know for sure is birth. But with the genetic testing, advances in US + good sonographer and reading Dr and possible amnio then it's very accurate.

At my 13wk scan, they measure his neck folds and I did a blood test. Its called nuchal translucency scan. The normal range is 2.5mm-3.5mm. If its thicker than normal, my OB said that could be an early sign that my baby had trisomy 18, down syndrome, or heart problems... For blood test, they had a 1 part test at 75% accuracy. 2 part test at ninety something percent accuracy. Or a 3 part test with 99% accuracy. I did the 1 part test.
