Should I let my 6 year old hold my newborn?

Can anyone give me personal experiences of their first borns around my daughters age holding their newborn? I'm anxious about it. Thank you.

With help, sitting down on bed, baby swaddled!

If you have a boppy use that to help support the baby.  But siblings need to bond to... My kids love holding their younger siblings. Just be sure she knows rules like if mommy is in the shower or whatever you cannot pick her up, sometimes big siblings will try to be helpful like that :)

Absolutely- but supervised, with help. The motor skills of a 6 year old just aren't fully developed yet. I don't have any other kids but I do have two elderly grandmothers in their 90's and the same rule would apply, because their motor skills have deteriorated.

My 8 year old absolutely adores having a little brother now. Definitely let them bond! I cried like a baby when I saw them together for the first time 😂

Of course. Just make sure they are sitting down and you're close by to make sure they are supporting the head and holding baby correctly

I "held" my brother at 1 year old. They just held him for me in my lap but I still thought I was holding him and threw a fit until I could hold him lol.

Have them sit down on a couch, place a pillow under their arm to support baby's head and neck. Make sure they are quiet and calm first.. that way they aren't squirming around.

My three year old held my son supervised of course and now she's six and he's three and I will let them both hold this baby! It's a bonding experience and it makes them feel involved.

My niece and nephew are both going to hold my baby girl. My nephew just turned 3 and my niece will be 5 in February. I'm just going to make sure they're sitting down and I'm right there watching. No way would I let them hold her on their own or carry her...
