possibility of twins?

I know that twins aren't "genetic" but other say "twins run in my family" for those of you that have twins in your family, did you have twins too? My husbands dad is a twin and my dads dad was a twin, just wondering what our chances are?

I have twin fraternal brothers. One of them has identical twin daughters. My other brother (non twin) also has identical twin daughters (his wife is a fraternal twin). Including both sides of my family, there are now 23 sets of twins as far back as we know. I'd say it has something to do with genetics at least partially.

Fraternal twins are genetic if it runs in the woman's family. Because fraternal twins are caused by the release of multiple eggs, that hyper ovulation can be genetic.

My great grandma was a fraternal twin. I would love to have twins!

Twins run on my side of the family & with both my pregnancies I have either released 2 eggs or 1 egg split but only 1 sac was fertalized. My sister needed up with fraternal twin boys. And yes if hereditary is playing into it, it comes from the mothers side, the sperm doesn't have anything to do with it. But I did have a friend who has no history of twins end up with identical twin girls!

Can't give too much info but I've heard it skips a generation and has more to do with the woman's side than the mans. It runs in my family, dads brother and sister are but so far neither of their kids have had multiples.

I've always been told that it's the woman who carries the "genetics" of twins because it all has to do with the egg. I have twins and they came out of no where. No one in my family has had twins as far as we know.

It's every other generation. Well at least that's the way it is in my family. It skips one generation. I'm up next for twins but I haven't conceived yet.
