Kids in Cars?

Question

I saw the discussion about whether, in a certain circumstances, if you'd ever leave a sleeping baby in the car for a minute to run in and drop something off (or some other small errand) rather than wake them up.

But that got me thinking: what about your parents? Did they leave you (or your siblings) in the car for things like that? My mom definitely did. I don't think that was rare.

I never, ever would.
There was a story on the news yesterday where a mum was picking up her kids from school and stepped away (not far) from her car to speak to a friend while baby was asleep and a man jumped in the car and drove off with baby in the back! 
I wouldn't do it because I'm scared of something happening.
My parents probably did, but I have no idea.
We always went on road trips so I'm sure they did at least a few times.

My parents did, but we lived in Utah so it didn't get hot and crime is SUPER low. 
However, I'll be in California where it's much warmer and crime is a different story. 
So no. I don't think I will.

I was left in the car most of my childhood. But I don't think I was left in the car when I was baby.

I was left in the car once, during an argument between my mother and abusive father. They had just finished having a bad blowout and my mother went to leave, but she had to get her purse, which he stood in front of, taunting, while his family sat around and giggled (we were temporarily in California as my father is a contractor and was doing something for disney, I don't know what nor do I care).

His mother tried stealing the car while my mom grabbed her purse, as planned by my father. I'm thankful my mother was a track star, and that child me was willing to beat my grandmother's head with a discount barbie doll, otherwise lord knows how that would have went with a drunk, legally blind grandmother at the wheel of a stolen vehicle.

Never will I leave my children in a car.

I used to (and still do) sit in the car during 100 degree weather if it means I didn't have to drag through a crowded store. Crotch sweat wins out over that every time. When things get bad I open the windows and moved to available shade in the car, then again my mother didn't lock me in a car seat at when I was young.

For the record, no, I don't allow my child to do this. I actually leave him home if possible because if I'm going to be forced to go in I'd rather do it alone and get out. I won't pretend that I never leave him in the car for a few minutes though. I'm bound to get the same unoriginal comments by stating that, but there it is.

I leave my daughter in the car (locked) when I go into the building to get the keys for the bus I drive and come back out. I'm not going to drag her in and out of the building through two sets of locked doors and into a small room just to walk right past the car again   So I leave her in the nice warm car for the one minute I'm gone and get her when I comeback out to go to the bus

I was left in cars for short periods but not as a baby. I wouldn't do it to my children though, at any age.
