How can I get birth control?

Hey everyone, I'm sixteen and I would like to get birth control, but I have no idea how to talk to my parents (I live with my dad and stepmom, and I really don't feel comfortable talking to either of them about it). I would like to make my own doctors appointment but I would need to talk to my dad about that because since he gained full custody my insurance got all messed up. 
Ideally, what I would like to do would be to go to my doctor (or even an obgyn, but I've never been to one before) and talk about my body and what would work best for me. I would also prefer my parents not to know that I'm on birth control - just because my sexual life is something I'd like to keep more private. 
How can I either talk to my dad or make my own apppointmens???

When you go see your dctr you may go in there privately w/o him tagging along. You can tell them you would like BC bc you're sexually active and they will not tell your parents about that decision. I've had so many friends in HS that were on birth control without their parents knowing. One day my friends mom found the pills in her room and her mom called her doctor to ask about it. Her doctor simply lied and said it was to regulate her period. Doctors are good at not telling.

Just say to your dad that you want to go on birth control the now, but not because your sexually active but so that your protected if you were to have sex one night. It's normal for a 16 year old to go on birth control, my mum put me on it even though I wasn't sexually active for another year or so.

They would need his consent for the appointment since he carries the insurance but he does not need to go in the room with you and the dr cannot tell him youre having sex just tell your dad you need to see a dr for somethings youve noticed about your body with the insurance hell be able to tell youre on medication when he gets the bill and inquires about it

You could also go to the health clinic and get birth control no parent or insurance needed
