Elsa Jacqueline born Dec 21/14

Mattie • Elsa Jacqueline born Dec 21/14

Alright so here is my birth story. My contractions started at 5am Dec 20th and were irregular for the day ranging from 5-30 mins apart, but they were getting more intense. By 4am Dec 21st they started to become regular every 10 mins. We got to the hospital by about 6:30am and I decided I wanted an epidural right away if I was admitted. They assessed me to be about 5cm and did bloodwork before I could get my epi. The doctor broke my water at 8:30am and there was a little bit of meconium in the fluid. They had to have some extra people in the room when she was born to assess her breathing and such. My labour progressed quickly and my bloodwork took forever so I couldn't have the epidural. I was limited to nitrous oxide which actually helped really well until the last 30 mins. The pain was so intense that I didn't remember much at the end, but my husband told me that the doctor barely made it in time once I had the urge to push. With about 3 pushes she was out at 10:49am and whisked away to be assessed for any meconium aspiration, her breathing was fine though. I only required one stitch this time which was great and was so happy to have a second vbac. It's amazing how the pain immediately stops as soon as she was born! But the fundal massage is not fun. About a week later I found out that since she went through the birth canal so quickly her clavicle broke!
