Should my hcg levels be checked ?

I went in to confirm pregnancy and they only did a urine test and ordered a CBC, std, and diabetes test. They did not check mg hcg levels. My next appt is at 8 weeks. I'm 4 wks now. Should they have checked my hcg levels?

Thanks guys! I just keep reading about everyone checking their levels or comparing the numbers. I was debating going on my own to a lab to check.

My first pregnancy (ended in mc) they didn't do bloodwork until I started bleeding. Because of the mc, and the low progesterone they found in that bloodwork, my doc wanted me in right away for a blood draw this time. I went back a week later for follow up and since my numbers were progressing wonderfully and I had no other issues no extra bloodwork was required.

Mine was never checked. Kind of glad as it seems like one more thing to worry about!

I had mine checked by my primary dr not my obgyn 
Then second pregnancy (ended in miscarriage) they only did 1round of bloodwork 
This time I requested to be followed closely so I had 3 rounds of bloodwork

They will only check if you had a miscarriage in the past. I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and when I found out I was pregnant they checked my levels and found out my progesterone is really low which could have cause my miscarriage. I am now 12 weeks

Mine wasn't checked. I think it's only checked when they feel there's a need to...as in positive/negative confusion. Your test must have came back positive and there's no question about your pregnancy...another reason why you were ordered those tests for those are your next step. Congrats!
