Depo Shot side effects ?

I'm about to get my birth control and i was thinking about getting the Depo Shot. I did research but i wanna hear some real life experiences, ya know? Pleeease drop your stories of the side effects. Thx!

Btw, im 16, 17 in like 2 weeks, not sexually active, just incase anyone wants to know.

I DO NOT recommend it. I spent  the last year trying to fix what the shot did to me. It killed my Sex drive and made me gain 20 lbs. and my period is still not back to normal. It is more of a pain than what it is worth.

I've had the shot for about almost three weeks and my only side effect has been migraines. I like it so far though!

I've had no side affects on it and I've been having it since March. I haven't put on any noticible weight (any I have put on is not due to the depo just my eating habits!). My sex drive is better than ever. I've had 3 months of no periods but some unexplained bleeding which I'm having a cervical examination for. For me it has worked amazingly as I've been on the implant, bled for a whole year and I fell pregnant on the pill. So I'm rather happy on it :)

I feel that the depo shots somehow contributed to a lot of people who I know who now have PCOS, I don't know for sure but lots of girls I know who were on the shot are now suffering the symptoms of PCOS after years on the shot.

I got my first shot in August and I'm due back this month for another so far I haven't gained any weight from it.  I wish I had it was my goal tbh.  But I'm gaining from ensures and such.  I used to have a 8-9 day period.  And now it's 3 days and super scant.  Like pantiliner scant. But it happens at the same time every month so my doc still considers it a period.  No side effects beyond that.  I like it but I won't be using it more than a year and a half or so due to it's long term effects.  But it effects everyone differently. My mom bled endlessly with it.  She hated it.

I want to start by saying everyone reacts differently. I got the shot when I was 18 and had it for about 8-10 months, I can't remember exactly. I enjoyed the lack of period and not worrying about being pregnant. But it was very expensive for me and inconvenient for me to go to the doctor every 12 weeks. I had a couple different side effects. It made me moody and tired the entire week after I got it. I also gained about 25 pounds the entire time I was on it. Even after I had given up soda and fast food because I was trying to prevent the weight gain, it didn't work. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't for me. Everyone is different though!

I hate it! It is not great your first shot. My boobs were always sore and I was constantly spotting. My doctor said to take a bc pill to stop the spotting. So two birth controls at once. Worst thing ever. When i didnt get my next shot i experienced a 8 day period that was SO heavy. Not worth it. I'm going to try the patch next and if not that then the implant.

OMG, talk about perfect timing. I was just thinking of getting it but after reading some of the comments I'm thinking maybe I should try something else. Any recommendations?

I had an extremely adverse reaction to the shot. My white blood cells dropped severely low and I lost 40 pounds (putting me below 100) I asked my doc to stop telling me my weight after 98 cause I was 102 just days before and it scared me. I got off it and Emmy stuff went back to normal and I got healthy again . 10/10 do not recommend but every medicine effects everyone differently.
