Can't breastfeed.

So I had my baby yesterday morning and I feel awful because all I ever wanted to do was breastfeed her but her latch is SO STRONG and her suck is so vigorous and aggressive that it feels like she is biting my nipples with razor sharp teeth. I couldn't sit through one feeding without crying. I kept trying all day with the same results. So she ended up on formula. I just am so upset because I want the bond of breastfeeding but the combo of my sensitive nipples her violent sucking it just isn't working out. I tried pumping but even the pump felt too aggressive and hurt me badly. I feel like a failure. Not to mention now we have to buy formula and bottles and I have a waste of all the nursing stuff I bought. :(
