Hickeys or biting/bite marks?

Ok what I mean is that like my boyfriend used to nibble and suck on my neck (leaving hickeys) and like that turned me on. But now he just bites so hard it hurts. Like I've told him it hurts but he still bites too hard. I'd prefer getting the hickeys. Am I the only one?
