concerned aunt
My niece will be 2 on feb 6. She hasn't spoken any words except mamama and dadadada but that stopped before she was a year old. She doesn't show interest in anyone but the mom and dad and that is even rare. They always push it off as she is crabby. She doesn't play pretend doesn't care for my baby or her other cousin or any other person. She doesn't play with toys the "correct" way (like trying to fit a shape in the correct shapped hole. She just throws everything and walks away)
I was talking to my employee that is autistic and she said that it may sound like she has autism.
Has anyone ever experienced mentioning autism to their in laws? Should I not do it? I feel so bad for my niece and want to get her the help she deserves if she needs it. They say early intervention is better than late. I love my niece and want to see her happy.
