Should Couples?

Should married couples split the money they earn amongst themselves or should they joint their money together?

Nope, what they SHOULD do is handle that in a way that works best for them.

Whatever works best. My husband and I share an account. Both of us work and both our checks get deposited into our joint account. We spend it freely unless it's something big then I will let him know and vise versa.

But depending where they live it is split equally in a divorce.

We have one account.

We have one credit card - I have an additional card.

We pay all bills from the bank account and pay the card off each month.

The rest is our savings and if either of us want to buy something usually over $100 we bring it up with the other so they know.

My husband and I have all joint accounts and that's what we think is best but I know other couples who have theirs separate and that's fine. I think it's whatever works for them

When dating we had our own bank accounts. When we got married and moved in together we got a joint account got rid of our solo accounts and share everything. I think that is the beauty of our marriage. We have direct deposit in our join bank account and really we just see it as our money not his and hers.

Depends what you mean by couple? Married? Then yes, to a certain extent. Most married couples share bank account(s) and thus share income. Regular couples, though, no...? You make your own money, why split it? I've never heard of that before.
