bright red period blood??

I started my period yesterday afternoon, and my blood has been a brightish red. It's not like fire truck red, but it's brighter than normal. I didn't have a period at all last month, I have super irregular periods. Does that have anything to do with it? Also what does a brighter red blood mean? I'm 15, so idk if my age has anything to do with it, is this normal?
