Infertile ??

So me and my boyfriend have been try to conceive for a whileee and we have had sex atleast 3 times a week. Nothing. I don't have regular periods so I feel like that might be part of the problem and when I do have a period they are really heavy. But he feels like one of us are infertile. What would be some symptoms to look out for not only if I were but also for him ?
