is my baby too cold (nose cold to the touch) ??! help please !!!

Okay so I've really been worrying about if my baby is too cold or hot. She's a week old today! I usually keep my apartment anywhere from 68-72 degrees. (My SO gets really hot) 
Whenever its time to sleep I usually have her in fuzzy footsie pajamas, with mittens and I swaddle her and put a quilt like blanket over her. I'm not sure if that's too much? Her nose is always so cold but the rest of her body is warm like her tummy and back is like warm/hot to the touch. Am I covering her too much, not enough or just right ? Should I put a beanie on her?? I keep freaking myself out thinking it'll fall off and cover her mouth :(  I'm super paranoid about SIDS ! I've kept myself up two nights because I keep freaking out thinking she's over heating then I think she's freezing. Please help. FTM.

What you're wearing plus one layer. If you put your fingers on her chest under the shirt you get a better idea of her temp than her nose. I agonized over this with my first but she'll be OK. ;-)

Recommended temp is 66-72 so I wouldn't raise the temp anymore. I don't think she needs the extra blanket at all. To be completely honest, it's best for them to be on the cooler side than the hotter side. Warmer temps put sids as a higher risk.

Our house is usually 69 degrees and our peanut usually just wears a sleep sack and that's it. Something that covers her arms and legs. That's what my SO and I wear to bed, (one layer) and the hospital told us the same as what you're wearing plus a layer. Her sleep sacks are pretty thick and fluffy.

No hats or blankets!

Is her crib/bassinet  in the direct path if air vent?

First of all I know EXACTLY how you feel. I've been there. FTM of a 3 month old. I've done lots of research (mostly in the middle of the night freaking out staring at my baby) and talked to many people. Your house temp is actually where it should be for SIDS. Way too many blankets!!! Take off the quilt! That's a risk for overheating and a risk that it will slide up on her face. No hat in my opinion. Also a SIDS risk technically even though this one is pretty picky honestly. Some will disagree. There is a risk it could slide down those inches down her nose. Even in a swaddle a newborn wriggle around in there sleep and hats can move easily. After the hospital they don't need the hat anymore. I used to do the footie pjs under the swaddleme blanket (is that what you are using?) but I read on here how other mamas don't. They just use a onesie or diaper to avoid overheating.

Also, I STRONGLY suggest a Snuza monitor that you clip to the diaper. Totally worth the peace of mind.

Lol this sounds just like me. My husband is the same he needs to sleep with a fan he gets really hot. But double layers! I put a onsie on with socks, then but the sleeping sack, or footie pajamas over that. If it gets really cold then I might add another layer. Blankets scare the crap out of me because I SIDS as well. I don't like using them.

Checking her nose won't give you a great idea about her core body temperature. Better to stick your hand down her back and feel the base of her neck. That will give a better indication of whether or not she's actually overheating or cold.

Beware off too many blankets, it can be a sids risk. I suggest putting a hat on her, thats where babys lose their heat from.

My husband kept wanting the temp low and the fans on.. But our daughter was failing to thrive and couldn't keep her temp up on her own. It would drop down to 94 easily.. So I had to swaddle her in 3 layers and keep the air up at 78.. Ended up having to go back to the hospital and she had to stay in a heated Nicu box for almost a week..

Check the back of her neck, thats what will tell you, thats shat my Pedeatrition told me when my DD was a baby. A fuzzy jammy should be enough. If baby is cold she will cry
