Should buses have seat belts?

I think it's crazy that kids can ride buses with no seatbelt. There is so much room to fly and get hurt if a crash happens.

As someone who has been in a school bus crash, YES! Smacking that seat in front of me hurt so bad 😂

In school buses or public buses? In a school bus maybe. In a public bus, I feel like seat belts would slow down transportation.

Preschool buses in my town have seat belts.  They show the kids how to buckle and unbuckle them and they have a teacher ride on the bus with them for extra help.  I think that they should have them on school buses for sure but I don't know if public transportation buses would be nessasery.

I say no only because in my town they were actually considering putting seatbelts on school busses. In the end they decided not to because if something happened and the kids need to get off the bus fast it would take longer because they would have to unbuckle the seatbelt and some kids might panic and have trouble taking it off so that would mean the bus driver would have to help them or cut the seatbelt off. Granted it's half a second to take a seatbelt off but if it's a real emergency and you need to get the hell off that bus unbuckling the seatbelt can cost your life.

No, they shouldn't. They are already the safest way to transport your child to and from school.

I'm mixed on this one. If you have a fire or dire emergency it takes that much longer for panicky people to get off and safe. However, it wouldn't be pleasant to be tossed around, either...

No busses should not have seatbelts. Either public or school busses. In the even of an emergency, it would be very difficult to get people off of a bus who are tied down easpecially if an injury were to occur and 2nd if a bus gets hit by a vehicle il tell you from experience not a whole lot will happen to a bus, the truck and driver that smashed into us however walked away totalled and in critical condition, my body lightly swayed. Its very difficult to impact a bus enough to cause any damage to the passengers inside, unless its hit by a semi.

Well, there's approximately 40 fatalities per year in bus related accidents. I really don't think lack of seat belts have been an issue. I feel like on a bus it might just cause a more deaths because it would be harder to get out in an accident

I currently ride a school bus. Those seats are so small when sitting with another person sometimes you have so little room and I'm a rather small person. All of us have book bags and sports and such so adds extra padding if there was a crash. Plus having to get off and on including the seat belt would make bus rides much longer. I know elementary and preschools have seat belts since they're much smaller than us highschoolers. I personally feel safer riding the bus than riding in the car
