When to give a bath?

So my son is 3 weeks today and his umbilical cord stump fell off 4 days ago and his circumcision plastibell came off yesterday. Can I give him a full on bath now? Like letting him sit and soak in the tub or water, not just a sponge bath?

Yes you can! Just do it quick and leave the head for the end as having it wet makes them loose heat. My daughter (#2) does not enjoy baths at all so we combine sponge and full baths 😊

I'm a ftm so no expert, but I was told that you can as soon as the umbilical cord comes off. No more than twice a week, but you can bathe him if you like. Nurse told me it's helpful to have a second person there for support. Also i would make it quick - I've bathed my little boy once so far, but he was NOT a happy camper, so I didn't even bother with the soap lol. Also, he peed on his towel before I could dry him off, so an extra set of hands would have helped; instead I just grabbed my big towel off the rack bc it was nearby. Learning process!
