What to do!?!?

i'm pregnant with my husband & I's first child. i'm not far along enough to know the gender but we have been discussing that if it's a boy my husband will name him or if it's a girl i can name her. has anyone else done this?

Nope. It should be a decision made by both of you, a compromise if you can to make are no one resents the other when they don't like the name choice.

If you're comfortable with that, that's good and you should do it. My fiancé suggested the same thing before we found out our baby's gender and I couldn't do it. I just didn't want to run the risk of him picking a name I hated or me picking a name he hated.

I wouldnt. I would agree on names you both like. If he picks a name you hate or vice versa you're gonna resent each other. lol. You only have so many chances to have children & name them something special to you!

My boyfriends mom and dad did this. She had 3 boys so their dad got to choose all their names. My boyfriend tried to get me to agree to this, but I just said no. I wanted us to both agree on any name. But if that's what you want to do I don't see an issue. I think it can work well for certain couples.

I was thinking about the same... But I do.not.trust. My partner to pick a good name.

His last name is Walker, and he keeps saying he likes the name 'sky/Skye' - and as much as I love Star Wars, I am NOT letting my kid be called 'Sky Walker', and enduring a lifetime of teasing!

He also likes 'Lyra' for a girl (from Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials books; which I admit, is pretty, but I am paranoid they'll get called 'Liar' and teased about that too 😒

And if he insists on 'Lyra Skye Walker', I'm out.

No way!! My hubs and I decided this at one point ..but when it came down to him deciding the name of our son I couldn't let him because some of the names were ridiculous! But it came down to us agreeing on a name ...finally... with only 21 days till the baby is here lol

Since we started dating, I always knew my husband wanted to name his son after him (it's a family name) so it's always been decided that I would get to name our girl. Of course I would take his opinion seriously if he really disliked the name I picked, but in the end, it's my decision.
