π Due Date Birth Story π
My husband and I woke up Sunday November 20th and decided to go grab breakfast. When we got back home we joked about trying the last few things google suggested to get labor induced naturally at home. So we piled the dogs in the car and went for a bumpy car ride. I was doing nipple stimulation in the car on the dirt roads π We got home and I bounced on the yoga ball while doing more nipple stimulation. Then took some castor oil and ate spicy salsa and Cajun boiled peanuts. I had to leave to go pick my daughter up from spending the night out, but I remember telling him "It is going to be hilarious telling this girl what all we did to get her to come out on her own & she still stayed put!" I was at 39 weeks 6 days! Well I was helping my daughter rinse her hair and the contractions started. I went and laid down and asked my husband to help her finish rinsing her hair! I started timing them and they were every 5-6 minutes. Then they moved to every 3-4 minutes. My doula recommended I get in the bath, drink lots of water and then lay down for a while to see if they would subside. They didn't! We live 45 min away so I decided at 11:30 pm it was time to put bags in the car and drop our oldest at my parents. We got to the hospital at 1:15 am and the lady asked how far along I was and I said 40 weeks today. She looked my name up and said oh you're supposed to be here at 6:30 tonight to start getting induced and I laughed and said yep guess she finally decided to come on out! They got me into a room and checked me and I was 3 cm. They started a heploc on me so I could be allowed to walk around. Called my doula at 3:30 and decided it was time for her to come up there. She set the room up with flameless candles and diffused young living oils. I was on a birthing ball and she would do a double hip squeeze when a contraction would come that was heavenly. I would get in and out of the shower to get some relief. My doctor came in and checked me at 10 and said I was only 5-6 cm and asked if it would be ok if she broke my water because baby was not dropping. So I let her & contractions became intense. I labored for a couple hours and then felt the urge to push. The nurse checked me & said to stop that I was only 8 cm and my cervix was puffy. I was exhausted and got so emotional at that point. The baby still hadn't dropped and I was in pain. I finally asked for epidural so they could give pitocin to help the pain and help me get her moved down. After 5 hours I finally got to 10 cm. They said we are going to try to have her vaginally but there's a chance you have to have a section. Not against that but after how long I labored I was going to have this girl vaginally Β haha! I pushed with all my might and luckily could feel pressure enough to push hard. Doctor gave me an episiotomy and Claire Elyse was born at 4:38 pm weighing 8 pounds 14 ounces 23 inches long! Born on her due date πΆπ»π
