My plan was to go med free as well but my doctor put me on pitocin to get my daughter to engage before pushing (even though my labor started naturally and I was already 5 cm when I got to the hospital). The contractions from the pitocin were very intense and more importantly, for me, very close together. I was really torn about what to do but also really terrified about what the rest of labor would be like. So, I got an epidural and feel like it was the best decision I could have made. I progressed from 5-10 in about 5 hours, pushed for just over and hour, and then she was here. My point is that you should totally go in with a plan and a goal, but don't be too hard on yourself if that plan changes! Good luck!

I was induced with pitocin and had my water broken maybe 30 minutes after.  What helped me avoid an epidural was moving around.  I got on all fours, sat on the birthing ball, stood up and swayed my hips left and right.  When I had a contraction I would lean on my husband, relax my whole body, and focus on my breathing.  The key is to really relax your body, relax your face, jaw, shoulders, everything.  I was hooked up because my daughter's heart rate fell twice but I was still able to move around my room as long as the wires reached.  I didn't lay down until it was time to push, and I pushed for maybe 3 minutes.  My body was already pushing my baby out on its own, I just made sure to breath right and when my body told me to push I gave it my all.  Recovery was great too, I was able to walk right away, and besides feeling pressure and being a little sore I was great.  Oh and I only got one stitch and I didn't notice it was ever there.

I was induced. My dr did the foley bulb the morning before my actual induction. It caused me to have contractions 5-7 mins apart until the following morning at 5AM when I went in to start pitocin.
The foley bulb got me dilated to a six.
I made it all the way to 9 almost 10 cm before I got an epidural. The epidural helped so much. I got a super low dose. I still had full range of motion in my legs but it took the edge off the painful pitocin contractions.
I could feel my contractions during pushing but they were more intense pressure than pain.
I only pushed for 45 mins.
From the moment I got pitocin to when my son was born was 9 hours.
If you can do pain free, I say go for it!
But don't feel defeated if you ask for pain meds!
Labor is hard work!

I'm in the same boat. Getting induced Saturday night he has 2 days to get things going! I'm in the mindset that epidural isn't even an option I just need to push through. Scared to be induced though and rly don't want c section! Good luck to you!! We got this 💪 it's very mental

I was induced last week at 39 weeks wit the fuley bulb. I was able to still have an unmedicated birth. Try that first

I ran out of space 😂😂 I would love tips from other women who have gone through an induction without an epi or any pain meds please. No offensive or judgement to anyone else, I would just really like someone who's been in this same situation. Happy Thanksgiving folks!!

Don't induce if you can help it.  I had 2 cervix pills and they broke my water.  All was good until the pitocin. Within an hour I had unbearable contractions 1 min apart and only dilated to a 4. I gave in and got Stadol through IV. It took the edge off, but I still couldn't stand it.  Another hour and I gave in and got the epidural, which almost killed me, mine and baby's blood pressure dropped dangerously low.  I was put on oxygen and stabilized. After that it wasn't so bad,  I was glad to have the epidural, I was in labor 14 hours from the time they broke my water. I pushed for an hour and a half and they had scheduled me for a C section if I had to push much longer.

I was induced and wanted pain meds but because of low platelets I had to go without them for a long time. The cervidil got my contractions going really strong really fast. I was awake for 24 hours and at least 16 of those were extremely painful- my contractions were doubling so I'd have 2 in a row before getting a short breather. Getting in the tub helped a lot, and when they got really bad the only thing that helped was rocking on a rocking chair- me rubbing my stomach/uterus while my husband rubbed my lower back. I had wireless monitors so I was allowed to move. They took them off when I wanted to use the tub. Your experience will depend a lot on how ready your body is for labor.. I was only 1cm and had a long way to go.

Way to go! If you go into it with the mindset that you want med free, you can do it! Don't get down on yourself if you need some though, inductions are worse than just going natural.

I was induced with my first towards the end i was screaming for drugs... im pretty sure i was in the 8-10cm range where its really painful. I did get some pain meds thru the iv but if i had.known how close i was i woildve been able to cope.

Im currently waiting to be called into the hospital for a induction with my second. I told my hubby i dont want meds and to be supportive/remind me of that
