how many diapers do we need?!?! LOL!

Question

First time momma here. I am 20+4 and my husband and I want to start buying diapers and wipes, just to start preparing. What size do I get and how many of each size? And how many packs of wipes? Also, what brands would y'all recommend of diapers and wipes? I guess I should know this stuff huh? 😂

I just had my baby almost 3 weeks ago and seriously they use a lot of diapers. I was told not to stock on newborn but when I brought my son home I had to go buy a bunch. He's still in newborn diapers and he's not a super tiny baby. About 18+ diapers a day. I say get a few newborn and stock on 1 and 2's. I use huggies and it seems to be fine. With wipes they go through them wayyyy quicker. But they say baby skin is so sensitive for awhile and it's better to use a warm cloth for wiping. I just started to do that because my sons bum is sore from the constant use of wipes. Hope this helped a little!

We use Luvs. Pampers and Huggies work well too but Luvs is cheaper. My son went up to size 1 diapers at 3 days old and size 2 at about 6 weeks old. He's a big guy. Luckily you can return unopened packages. We like the parents choice brand at walmart for wipes. I suggest buying in bulk. He goes through approx. 7-8 diapers a day so I would use that to figure out how many you might need in a week/month.

I use either pampers or parents choice and you might not want to stock up too much my daughter ended up being a small baby and needing preemies which was ok but my youngest son was born the size of a toddler and I was left with newborn diapers that he outgrew in the womb. Just get a pack of newborn and a couple packs of size 1 then you can judge babies size when they're here. I really like using pampers for newborns cause of the cord cut out.

I wouldn't stock up too much. You dont know how bubs skin will react to wipes, and they grow out of newborn nappies relatively quick. Plus you dont know how big or small bub will be. I'd just buy 2 or 3 packs of wipes, and 2 boxes of newborn nappies.

Ok, do a Google search on this. I have ran into a few websites where the mom actually counted diaper usage.  We just bought our first,set of diapers last weekend. I also understand that the kirkland brand is made by huggies( or so I'm told) and I've heard mom's swear their wipes are the best.

I prefer Huggies over Pampers diapers, wipes Pampers but diapers found to be better fitting and more absorbent from Huggies

I started off with pampers swaddlers (NB) and had 2 boxes. I loved them. Then has stocked up on huggies snug and dry size 1 (4 boxes of 148, only used 3 boxes) and had 2 boxes of huggies snug and dry size 2. Once I ran out of huggies I heard Luvs were just as good so started an automatic shipment through Amazon because they were so cheap. Well, I hated them. She leaked almost every time during the day and at night. Only used about 20 diapers because I couldn't deal. Then went back to pampers swaddlers size 2 still and they leaked too!! She woke up soaking wet the other night and was only in her diaper for 3 hours. So, went back to huggies and haven't had a leak since. It does depend on the baby but for me I'll only use huggies now!! So don't go too crazy stocking up! You might end up having to sell the ones you don't like.

My daughter was born weighing 6lbs 7oz and at 15 days old we will go through 2 packs of newborn diapers but they're getting snug already so we won't buy a third pack. If you can join sams club or know someone with a membership we got 1000 wipe pack for 17 dollars

Oh also don't go based on the weight that it says on the dipers packages it means nothing like size two says goes up to like 22 lbs but they are too small now my son is in size 3 he's 18 lbs and size 3 says like21-28 lbs or something like that weight means nothing it all depends on what fits your baby comfortably!
