Spotting and black period 2 days later?

Okay so I started spotting 2 days ago and thought I was about to start my period. I didn't yesterday at all and the spotting stopped. Today I didn't have anything until the afternoon and it is extremely black with a hint of red when I wipe. This is so unusual. Could I be pregnant or a sign of pregnancy? I put a tampon in for now and I haven't started cramping which I normally have super horrible cramps. Comment with your opinion please 🙃
