no crib-pack and play?

Question

Would it be super weird to have no crib and just a pack and play? I would plan on purchasing a mattress that fit snugly in it for once they grew out of the napper attachment, but it can be Crib, napper, and changing table in one. Sure it really wouldn't look all that perfect and pretty, but I've never been the best at decor.

We go over to my husband's grandparents whenever possible for weekends and such, so we would need a pack and play for our traveling crib anyway (we travel several times per year to see other family too). I just don't see why I'd want to have a crib at home and then the pack and play on top of that. We live in a small(ish) 1 bedroom, so saving space is important.

I don't know why but it's stigmatized in my head. My mom used to judge friends and such if they just had pack and plays for the cribs, calling them "ghetto teen-mom cribs"

I find that absolutely abhorrent, and I've cut off contact with my mom for the most part because of her attitude, narcissism, and abuse... but I still can't get past it. I don't want feel like I'm not providing the best for my babe, even if I'm not considering this because of price/being poor.

My son slept in a pack n play until he was 2 mostly because for us it was cheaper now he has a convertible crib we took the front panel off and its his toddler bed and his sister who is due to arrive in just a few weeks will sleep in that same pack n play until we get him a twin bedset at tax time when she will get the crib

I slept in a dresser drawer when my mom had me and my brother slept in a laundry basket my mom didnt have money for all the extras so she made do with what she had lol

The napped mattress goes down into the normal mattress when they grow bigger so there's no real need to purchase a new one, but sheets are a must :) I say whatever works for you and if people judge you for it they aren't the right people for you anyways. Life is hard especially in our current economy sometimes we need to think outside of the box and not everything has to be traditional.

As long as your baby is safe and comfortable, there is no issue with it

No. it's your choice. I know people who only had a swing for their baby to sleep in at their house. And had a pac n play on the go. Their baby was just more comfortable in a swing. Do what's easier for you don't waste your money on a crib if you're barely going to use it.

Thats what im doing. Im getting the one with the changer and bassinet plus getting a mattress to fit on the bottom which helps alot since I dont have any room for a crib so a pack n play is ideal for the space i have plus i can move it and take it other places if i needed to.

Your house, your baby. Do what makes you comfortable and happy. And if you start with just the pen and decide you do want the crib, you can always buy one later.
