I had my daughter at 28&2 my biggest advice would be to pump every 2 hours.. breast milk is the best thing for nicu babies and most hospitals will even provide a pump for your nicu room. Its a long and hard road hang in there.

Take it one day at a time. My daughter was born at 26 weeks and 2days. A few things that worked for me and my family.
- have primary nurses
-ask questions and don't assume because they are nurse they know everything. 
- be hands on. I was at the hospital 12 hrs a day. I would change her diapers, pick her up myself.  -I made sure each nurse on all 3 shifts who was watching my baby seen my face. 
- I would ask the lead nurse who was watching my baby next before the shift change. so if I liked her I would leave to get a break. 
-I had a sign on the wall to be notified for everything that my husband and I thought were important. The note was coming from my daughter speaking for her parents: " My parents would like to be notifyed for theses things, it might be rountie for you but for them they would like to no." 
- The biggest thing is being my babies advocate and speaking up for her. If you don't like something speak up. The hospital changed her food for us because I didn't like the unesscary stuff in it like corn syrup.( the stuff they mix with breast milk for calories).
-I also have other NICU moms that I am in contact with.
We were their from August 17 til Nov 1. 
My daughter was a miracle because she never had a hiccup or set back. She was that baby that coasted though the NICU. Also pump like crazy.

Our baby boy was born 14w early 5.5 weeks ago. I suggest:
* kangaroo care cuddles- everyday if you can.
* go to the support group st least a couple of times. Talking to others helps.
* we've recently started doing a morning check-in call to his nurse for an update, as our visits are afternoon or evening.

I had my son at 27 w 2d. Was in labor for 10 days!! He is now a happy healthy 7 month old!!! Plan on him being in the NUCU until at least his due date. Ours came out a few days after. NICU-itis is real!!! Lean on people for support. Talk to the nurses, go to rounds (if they have them where you are), and hang in there!!!! You can do it!!!!! Before long this will be a distant memory!!!!!
