No it's not. Massage is actually proven to cause miscarriage in the first trimester. Wait until you are in your 2nd or 3rd trimester and ask for a prenatal massage.

I'm a licensed massage therapist and I never do prenatal massage for anyone in the first trimester. The risk of natural miscarriage in the first trimester is too high as is. After 12 weeks make sure that you find a therapist who is certified and educated in prenatal massage! You should only have side-lying massage, they have prenatal pillows/props that allow moms to lay on their stomachs, but all the education I've ever received has been NEVER to use them as the placenta can detach from the uterus causing a miscarriage. Also, if they flip you onto your back they should be propping up your right hip to prevent the blood supply to the vena cava being cut off. They should also avoid too much pressure on your feet and not rub the ankles at all as there are very sensitive acupressure points that can induce labor if stimulated.

I've regularly gone for massage and acupuncture for my scoliosis and as soon as I told my chiropractor that I was pregnant, he stopped all massage for the first trimester. He said there are certain pressure points that are very bad for the baby and it's not worth the risk. Your chiropractor or masseuse may feel differently though. Just call and ask!

NO MASSAGES 1 st trimester!  Then, make sure you inform the massage therapist.  There are certain places they need to avoid massaging and certain products they need to avoid using.

I did - just make sure your massage therapist knows you are pregnant (it seems though that many/most massage therapists in the states won't touch you in your first trimester so it might depend on where you are - I'm in Canada)

I had a miscarriage within a week after a massage. I don't know if it directly caused it but I wouldnt do it again. I would rather be safe than sorry.

Everyone seems to be saying no, but my doctor assured me it's fine because the baby is safe beneath the pubic bone. She also told me there is no scientific studies linking miscarriage and massage. I say, if you're worried, why risk it?
