Getting back with 1st love

Anyone here ever get back with their first love? I let mine go 2 years ago and he's moved on but I still cry and wish I could get him back but now he's engaged so obviously I won't interfere. But has anyone gotten back with their first loves later on in life? Or am I stupid to be hopeful? He was the love of my life and I was stupid to let him go I should have gotten him back when I had the chance

EDIT: I would never ever ever try to split up what he has going currently. I'm saying in the future maybe? Has this ever happened to anyone? When I broke up with him he tried so hard to get me back and he said he wanted to spend his life with me and he loved me and I was stupid and young (20) and walked away. And now I'm almost 23 and I regret it so much cause he honestly was my best friend and I loved him
