use of salicylic acid during pregnancy

I was just researching pregnancy related acne issues and came across a lot of research suggesting that the use of salicylic acid during pregnancy causes birth defects. 

Have any of you been told that before?

I'm now freaking out because I'm over 10 weeks pregnant and have been using a foundation that contains 0.5% salicylic acid. I'll switch as soon as possible, I plan to hit Ulta tomorrow but I can't help but feel very upset by this. 

What products are you all using to keep the acne at bay?
