Potty training my lab

Heather
Hi all! Hubby and I just got a new puppy. She's about 9 weeks old and a lab. We're working on potty training and she's definitely getting better. She's getting more used to her crate as well which is good. We put her in there at night and get up once during the night with her to potty then again when we wake up and she goes. We feed her at 7 Then take her out before we leave. I leave the house about 7:20 and my hubby leaves around 7:45 when she's done going to the bathroom. He'll put her in the crate and come home around 11:30 and take her out again and of course feed & take her out before he puts her back in. No accidents at that time. He usually leaves about 12:30 or so. Some days he can come home again around 3 but sometimes he can't and I don't get out of work until 4 so home by 4:30. I'm thinking of getting her a playpen and putting her bed at one end and pee pad at the other so that if she has to go she can. It'll give her more room to play & roam as well.
Just wondering, any of you have experience with a play pen while trying to potty train to go outside? Will it be too confusing or take longer if she gets used to the pads & going inside with us also taking her outside when we're home?
She's perfectly okay going a few hours between the crate and us coming home to let her out. She's done very well without any accidents. I just want to give her a tad more room to "roam".
Thanks ladies!
