should I give formula?

At the end of the day my milk supply is literally nonexistent (or it feels like it)... my little one screams at the breast usually for 2-2.5 hours before either deciding to drink or going to sleep.... I'm wondering if I should give him some formula?! I wanted to mix breast milk with formula but this kid screams as soon as I turn the pump on during the day to even try pump some.... any suggestions or ideas are more than welcome!

Unless you want your supply to diminish, don't give formula. It's all about supply and demand. The more baby is on boob the more milk your body will produce

I stopped breastfeeding because my LO would feed for 40-60mins and would still need a bottle. I exclusively pump and since I don't produce enough I give similac for supplementation formula. You do what is best for you and your baby, don't let anyone on here or friends/family sway your decision. It is hard to pump while I'm alone with my baby but for the most part he is napping and I am able to pump. I pump every 2 hours for 20 in during the day and pump about twice during the night when he wakes up. I give him a bottle then pump once he falls asleep. Good luck momma and don't stress!

I pump and breastfeed but Similac has a 'for supplementation' formula and I use that a couple of times a day otherwise I don't think I would have enough milk for my baby. Don't feel bad or disappointed, fed is best! Also, try Ovaltine malt... it's great for milk supply. Or malty beers. And gatorade!! As well as the more calories you intake, the more your body has to work with! Sorry just throwing out things that I know work! Good luck

Your description is totally normal. You aren't empty, your baby is just having a fussy period. My son does it too and I know I'm not empty because I can pump after he goes to sleep and get plenty. Google "Purple Crying" - it means they cry for no reason and it's usually at night. My oldest did it for about 2 hours before bed every night and nothing would soothe him. This baby does it about every other night.
