Do you believe schools like Spelman, Morehouse, Barnard, Smith, Wabash, and etc , should have to change and now allow everyone in to their schools? That their purposes have been served and there is no need for school settings like theirs anymore?

In the case of higher education, I feel you have the right to decide if you want to go to a single sex college. But single sex shouldn't mean exclusionary. Trans people should be allowed into the college that represents their gender. Trans people need to be allowed into the spaces of their gender. It shouldn't be up for debate.

Sexism is far from dead. Men still get a much smoother path in many things just for being men. Until that's no longer the case, these schools serve a vital purpose in society.

The majority of colleges are all inclusive I don't think a few single sex colleges harm anything. If some people prefer to attend these colleges that should be their right.

I think when the concept of single gender schools came about nobody really thought about having to allow transgender people to their institutions. It was a much different time back then. A lot of those institutions still have that old school style of thinking, so I'm sure that's a problem in many of those places.

I personally don't see the appeal of all one gender schools. But I think trans men can go to male schools and trans women go to female schools. Because the institutions are privately funded you really can't force them to be coed.

I feel that schools for women should allow trans women, and schools for men should allow trans men. But I don't think that all schools should be forced to be coed. Some people

However, I feel like schools that are historically single gender schools should reevaluate why they are. Like, the majority of historically male only schools were male only because they didn't see the value of educating women. So, I think it would be in good taste to at least acknowledge that that was wrong of them. If they don't acknowledge that, then it makes it seem like they might still believe in that.

I do think that schools should have a good reason for it though. Like, many women don't feel safe going to coed schools, or they're interested in, for example, STEM, and the majority of STEM programs are filled with a disproportionate amount of guys, and having all girls schools allow women to be educated in an environment that empowers women. But I don't feel like "that's how we've always done it" and other excuses like that are very good reasons.

Those schools aren't pubically funded so they can do as they please without being affected by what our society happens to think is acceptable. Thank goodness.
