Is the Jeep Wrangler a good first vehicle?

Im 18, I have a great job, and found a jeep for a great price. I live in Wisconsin and we get extremely hot summers and snowy winters. This vehicle can handle a lot and I've had experience driving one, I know its not a regular car. The down side is the gas mileage. I'm wondering if anyone has owned one and if they are reliable. I'd really appreciate some advice from someone who has one or has owned one. Thank you
