When can I give my LO baby food? She is 2 weeks away from being 5 months!

Everyone has a different opinion, but the AAP says 6 months. We will be waiting until at least 6 months, but if he isn't ready yet then we will wait a little longer.

I started my baby boy this week (4 months).  I read all about it prior and I feel like my kid is ready. He came out 11 pounds 8 oz and is 19 pounds and I think he is pretty lean. He is super tall for his age. I think he needs to start getting more iron. 
Also he has a ton of interest. Like if I stop feeding him he screams at me until I give him more.

My pediatrician says we can start as early as 4 months if baby girl shows an interest, or we can wait until 6 months. I have an extremely alert 4 month old who is breastfeeding every 2.5 hours. When she gets a bottle of breastmilk she will easily suck down 6-8oz at a feeding. When she is sitting with us when we eat, she shows interest in our food and will attempt to grab at it. So we are going to try food next week with her and see how it goes! If she takes to it, we will keep it up. Otherwise we will try again at a later date. There is no "textbook" child. If you think your babe is ready for real food and you feel it's the appropriate time, go ahead and try! :)

I would ask your pediatrician. Mine told us we can start when my LO is 4 months if we want. I'm a FTM though so I haven't decided if I'll start at 4 months or wait until 6. I might just try it out at 4 and see how it goes..

My pediatrician suggested starting my little guy at 4 months.  He's both breast and formula, and shoes an interest in food.  He can push himself up during tummy time and has great control of his head and neck.  So he's started on rice cereal and puréed fruit and veg as well as yogurt.  That being said 4-6 months that food is a snack and the pediatrician said that baby will still get his nutrition from formula and breast milk.  So at dinner time I breastfeed him then do rice cereal mixed with yogurt or puréed baby food.  And still a full 6oz of formula before bed

Food before 1 is just for fun! Try to wait until at least 6 months. I've done a ton of reading, look up baby led weaning
