Selfish?
I am giving birth at a small birthing center (two birthing rooms and a waiting room). My parents want to be there eagerly awaiting the birth of their (first) grandchild, but I know that knowing they're within earshot will make me self-conscious and may interfere with my ability to loosen up, breathe, and possible shriek. They love about three hours away. Do you think it's reasonable to ask them to wait in town but not right at the birth center? I'd be happy to get them a hotel room. Am I being selfish?
