When does third trimester begin?

I've read on various sites and wanted to check what you all have heard- when does third trimester actually start? Since pregnancy is 10 months, not 9, the time doesn't split evenly. Let me know!

Some apps and sites such as glow day 26 weeks but my doctor said 28 weeks, so that's what I go by!

My doctors office goes by 27 weeks and that's what I've seen the most, so that's what I'm going by. But I've heard anywhere from 26-28 weeks. 
I think what gets confusing is the way weeks are counted, you don't count a week until the week is over and then you begin the next week. So technically when you are 26w 2 days for example, you have completed 26 weeks of pregnancy and are 2 days into your 27th week. Therefor if the 27th week is the start of the third trimester, you would only 2 days into the third trimester. Same with months, you're not 6 months pregnant until the 6th month is over and you've begun the 7th month. 
So I would say if you're anywhere in the ballpark of 26-28 weeks you're right at the beginning of the third trimester somewhere, it's just a guideline, not exact.
