My LG is 18 days old, I just gave her a bath and noticed this small ball in her belly button. It was hidden behind skin so not obvious. Is it a normal sign of her belly button healing or should I be concerned?

It may just be a part of her belly button but it does look a little red and irritated. Is any pus coming out? I would make an apt with her dr just because you don't want an infection to happen, never hurts to take her in!

Thanks everyone. I got my SIL to have a look who is a midwife and she has told me it's nothing to worry about and it's just where the umbilical cord detached x

Take the LO to the pediatrician and they will take care of it for you! Congrats on the sweet newborn!

My son's looked like that, his pediatrician said it was a small infection and prescribed a typical ointment that cleared it up in about a week.

My son got one after his came off. The doctor removed the little ball and he was fine.
