Missed a pill

My hubby is deployed right now. I really only take birth control to skip periods. Because he's gone I sometimes skip a pill because there's nothing to worry about...the occasional time I forget. When I do this I find myself super depressed for a day or two... and I know when he's deployed some days are going to be better than others. But does skipping a pill cause anybody else to be extremely sad and depressed?? Has anybody experienced this sadness??
