Emerald Engagement Ring?

My fiancé and I are considering an emerald engagement ring but I was told from a co- worker that the stone will shatter over time...? Does someone has experience with this issue? Now we're reconsidering our choice. I would like to add that I'm pretty busy in the kitchen, always cooking or baking; cleaning. Thanks for your input.

I say go for it, but take your ring off and put if somewhere safe when you're in the kitchen. I have a sapphire and I bake often, and that's what I've found is easiest

The only thing with gemstones is they can crack unde extreme weather changes. Like if it's extra cold from outside and u come in and put it under boiling water. Something like that. I've never had it happen to me though. Emeralds are my favorite- I think it sounds nice!

Go for it!!! My first ring was emerald. My mom had it on her hand for 14 years and my grandma wore it for who knows how long before that. My mom doesn't take off her rings to shower, do dishes, cook, clean, any of that, and it survived! It was a big stone too. It got knocked on everything. No breaks still!

Here's mine, had it for four years or so now. Not wearing it or my wedding ring at the moment as they have become uncomfortably tight during my pregnancy. Can't wait to her them back on!

Natural emeralds are one of the softest of the precious stones so I would just recommend taking it off when your hands are active it is more at risk for hits and bumps.

I went for a blue topaz but was looking at sapphires.
