what's your opinion on day care

My job doesn't offer maternity but I do have enough unpaid leave for 6 weeks ... what's your option on putting your 6 week old baby in day care to return work ??? I'm not feeling too good on the idea AT ALL. ps I'm a military wife so we have no family to watch the baby and we have friends but can't baby sit until late after noon ... but still I'm so protective like my mother and just don't really trust people !!!! HELLLLLP
