what's messing up my pumping?

The first couple times I pumped I got 4 ounces no problem in only 10 minutes. But the last few times I struggle for even an ounce. I let down right away but then the flow is slow and stops after a minute or two. I know the flanges are too big – waiting for the right size to come in the mail - So pumping has made my nipples sore – could the expectation of pain be the cause?

If you pump after your baby nursed, you may get way less than if you did it some time after feeding.

Yes! Pain is horrible for pumping. My pump doesn't let me have two different sizes on it because it messes with the airflow, even though my right is bigger than my left.. needless to say I only get 0.5-2.0 ounces out of my left when I get 4.0-6.0 ounces out of my right. I attribute it to the pain I get from having the wrong size Falange, but there is nothing I can do unless I buy my own pump of a different brand.
