What do you do after you first find out you're pregnant?

Do you immediately make an appt with the obstetrician? Or should you go to your regular doctor to confirm by blood test first

I called my primary care physicians office 1st & made an appointment to confirm the day after I got my BFP @ 4 weeks, she wrote a referral for a high risk OB clinic (I have an autoimmune disease), the clinic called me a few days later & set up my 1st appointment for 7 weeks 2 days, I got a dating ultrasound @ that visit & met w/ one of the doctors. So much depends on the particular clinic u choose to go to & if you're high risk or not (high risk usually gets seen sooner & more often & gets more ultrasounds)

I have an OB that I go to for regular check ups and anything woman health related. I also have a family practitioner. But I usually call my OB and they see me right away. They're the ones who do the blood test to confirm and from there they schedule my next pregnancy appointment, around 8 weeks for a first scan. I think it just depends. If you don't have an OB who go to for regular Pap smears and breast exams, you probably should call your regular family doctor.

OB clinic will only see you when you are 8 weeks. You can go to your regular doctor and make an appt to get urine test.
