Nurses Gifts

Tiffany
My doula suggested bringing a small gift for our nurses when we go into labor. In her experience she said it goes a long way and helps get nurses on your team. They have a hard job dealing with all of us crazy women everyday. Here's a little cheap something I put together. It has some M&Ms, gum, instant coffee, and nail polish. Anyone else doing gifts? 4 more days until my due date.

Our midwife suggested we get the L&D nurses essential oils since they use them a lot with patients and the hospital doesn't reimburse them for it.Oils she recommended that they use a lot were lavender, clary sage, peppermint, & basil. I thought it was a great idea!

Ah good to know- ladies check with your hospital first! I've been hearing a lot that many hospitals differ in their culture & approach. I know ours allows it since they mentioned using diffusers.

I'm a nurse and we can't use those in the hospital. At least not in the hospitals I've worked in. I wish!

I want to bring gifts. Maybe Starbucks cards. Or a big carton of fresh Starbucks coffee and some snacks. I'm a nurse myself so food is always welcome and appreciated!

I was thinking about doing something after that way I knew how many nurses or staff members I should be prepared for.

You can always call ahead and ask, how many nurses/staff they usually have

I've been thinking of doing something like this too. I was told they have to share gifts, so I was going to make a gift basket for labor and delivery nurses & also one for recovery nurses (separate units at our hospital).

I was told anywhere from 4 to 6. You have a night and day nurse in delivery and a night and day nurse in postpartum. I did 10 which I'm sure is way to many. I can always give them to friend if I made too many.
