my birth story
I was 38+6 days and went to scheduled 39 week appointment. My blood pressure was elevated and had been perfect the entire pregnancy. They decided to monitor me for a little bit, but told me be prepared to go to the hospital and not go home until I have a baby. I called my husband to tell him and the dog boarder to see if they had an empty space. 10 minutes later the doctor said your going to the hospital because it's more beneficial to have the baby now instead of waiting it out. I call my husband back and I'm having to tell him the last minute stuff to put in the hospital bag and everything to bring. My mom drives me to the hospital and I get all checked in. I hadn't ate since 6:30 the night before and it's now 11am and they've started pitocin. Going in i was 2cm 60%. Well by 9:30 I was the same and my blood pressure had been perfect. Doctor said let's take a break let you eat whatever you want and we will start again at 3 am. I tried to sleep maybe got 2 hrs and then got woke up to start the pitocin again. Contractions weren't too bad then at 8:30am they broke my water and it felt like my next contraction was more intense and got more painful. It literally felt like every bone in my pelvis was being crushed. At 10:30 am I couldn't take it anymore and got my epidural. Things eased up and got easier. My right side kept waking up so they had to keep pumping more epidural meds and I had to get my epidural catheter re adjusted. Then later the pelvic pressure kicked in when her head started moving down and again it felt like my bones were being crushed. Next thing I know at 3:30 am it was time to push. Finally at 4:22 am my little girl was here. 6lbs 13 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. I went to the hospital on Monday and had her Wednesday morning at 39 weeks and 1 day. It's been a big adjustment and seriously the hardest thing ever. I'm an emotional wreck, anxiety attacks and I still can't believe I'm a mom. Today has been a little better than the others and hopefully it gets better and better. My husband has been my rock and saving grace through it all. I love my daughter more than I knew was possible and I can't believe she's mine.
